Accomplishments

more efficient case review process

Implemented a streamlined case review process resulting in quicker turnaround for those facing charges. All cases are reviewed by the CA’s office within 48 hours of arrest. This decreased the average jail stay from 35 days to 17 days, and the average days between arrest and a case being dismissed fell from 112 to 23 days.

jail diversion programs

Increased jail diversion programs that provide people with resources they need instead of jail time. This includes helping to lead the push for the creation of a new Mental Health Diversion Center.

covid-19 accessibility

Increased court access during the pandemic by implementing virtual pretrial hearings.

support for domestic violence victims

Helped protect victims of domestic violence by launching the Upside-Down Domestic Violence Program. This program identified cases in which the victim of domestic violence was incorrectly arrested and had these cases dismissed.

forwarding equity & inclusion

Forwarded the cause of equity and inclusion by holding a variety of training sessions on a regular basis, including implicit bias, racial equity, and inclusivity training.

weapon forfeiture policy

Implemented a new weapon forfeiture policy that requires prosecutors to request weapon forfeiture in cases involving a weapon, or in cases where an abuser has access to a weapon resulting in the forfeitures of over 700 weapons.
